This piece won honorable mentions in the Trashion Competition for the City of Raleigh Environmental Awards hosted by City of Raleigh Solid Waste Services.The awards were held at the A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater in Raleigh, North Carolina on Tuesday, April 25, 2017. The competition required designers to create a completely wearable garment composed of recycled and recyclable materials. The garment above was created with vintage magazines, plastic vinyl, black nylon tent fabric, paper, wire, ribbon, laminating paper, clear trash bags, a luggage belt, thread, and grommets. The only non-recyclable component of this gown was the mod podge used to create the collaged bodice.
